Four thieves do what they do best for the good of the common people during the Ming Dynasty. Li Ge Xiao (Wallace Huo) is a master swordsman with an intellect that no one else can match. In his former life, he was a high-ranking marshal but after suffering a devastating loss at the hands of his nemesis Ying Wu Qiu (Edwin Siu), Ge Xiao became a man on the run. When natural disasters bring great suffering to the people of the Ming Dynasty, they eagerly await government relief in the form of a cargo of gold. But the gold shipment is stolen during the delivery by a group of mysterious men. Ge Xiao is called out of hiding to help recover the stolen gold. He assembles three other thieves to form a strange band of masked vigilantes known as the Yi Zhi Mei. Yan San Niang (Liu Shi Shi) is a master pickpocket and thief. He Xiao Mei (Ma Tian Yu) is a master of disguise and hidden weapons, and Cai Hu (Shi Yan Neng) possesses superhuman strength. Can the unusual group fight corruption, injustice and oppression? “Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei” is a 2011 Chinese drama series directed by Lee Kwok Lap. It is a remake of the popular Korean dramas “Iljimae” (2008) and “The Return of Iljimae” (2009).
